Some Previous Programs:

In September:
No Trick....

This was no trick....We wore masks and joined Ann for a spooky Halloween party for the "B" Inspired Club.

Ann helped us get into the Halloween spirit and showed how to get started on some bewitching projects.   The only thing we had to Fear was having a great time and we could check out the store's new Halloween fabrics and all the great patterns.

In August:
Revisiting: Fabric Plus Paper

We're rested from our Summer break and it was great to see everyone this week.  Ursula combined her two passions....fabric and paper.  So many beautiful gift ideas for the holidays! Totes, flowers, place-mats, cards, embroidery & so much more.

In May:
Revisiting: Photo Transfer Using Inkjet-Printable Fabric

As this topic continues to come up - and we had not directly addressed the subject in a few years - Sonja re-visited this topic, summarizing her testing of five different printable fabric products. Informative and, perhaps: Surprising! Topic was appropriate for newcomers to printable fabric and to those of you with experience. Thank you for joining us and for bringing your examples and experiences.

In April:
It Is OK to Throw Your Fabric on the Floor

You have made a beautiful quilt to decorate your room so why not add a coordinating rug? Ann showed how to use your scrap batting and leftover fabrics to complete your look.

In March:
Exploring all the Fun Ways to Strip… Strip Piecing, That is!

At our monthly B Inspired Club led by Cathy, we explored fun ways to strip… Strip piecing that is. Cozy Quilt Designs lent us their newest quilts, patterns, books and rulers and we were excited to show them to you and how easy and fast it is to put a quilt together.

In February:
NeedlePunch

Cathy showed: How easy it is to Needlepunch on your sewing machine. We learned some embellishment techniques with roving, yarns, and fabrics - and, how we can also incorporate NeedlePunch into embroidery projects.

In January:
Techniques for Creating Successful Bobbinwork

Cathy Hooper (of our staff) helped us to learn techniques for creating successful bobbinwork with a variety of decorative threads and how to use stitches, combinations and free-motion methods that will enhance any project.

Gatherings

Bernina World of Sewing - Gatherings 2017

Bernina World of Sewing - Gatherings 2018

Our 2018 Gatherings are currently starting to "take shape". The existing Gatherers are in final-decision mode for their Morning and Evening Gatherings. Stay tuned for more information in that regard.

A new Gathering "2018 Millefiori Gathering" will be having an informational session on September 25, 2017 at 5:30pm. Initial information about this Gathering is at:

Millefiori Evening Gathering 2017/18
Or, stop by the store and discuss with Sonja.

2017 Gatherings

The first project that will be part of the 2017 Gatherings is based upon creating a Two-Color quilt using patterns inspired by the book: "modern neutrals, A fresh look at Neutral Quilt Patterns" By Amy Ellis.

The 2017 Gatherings are taking place monthly in 2017:

  • Evening Gathering: The second Monday of each month, 5:00-9:00pm.
  • Daytime Gathering: The third Tuesday of each month, 10:00am-4:00pm.

We look forward to seeing all your beautiful work.

Note: You MUST be pre-registered to participate in the monthly Gatherings. Just "Show-Ups" the day/evening of the Gathering will not be allowed - we simply do not have room for such in the classroom. Sorry!

Those who signed up and are participating in the Gatherings have been contacted via eMail. For those participating and have been contacted, the next session for the 2017 Morning Gathering is: Tuesday, September 19 2017 10:00am at the store and the next session of the 2017 Evening Gathering is currently planned for: Monday, October 9 2017 5:00pm at the store . Again: Please do NOT show up for the Gathering if you have not been contacted (there, simply, is not sufficient space for "walk-in" participants). Sorry!

If you wish to be placed on the Wait List for either of the Gatherings - or, to be notified if an opening comes about for either the Daytime or Evening 2017 Gatherings, please send mail to: modernneutralsbwos at Bernina World of Sewing dot com

Or, of Course: Stop by the store. Sonja will have the latest information.

Reminders:
  • The Gathering participants purchased, from our store, the book chosen to be part of this Gathering and the fabric needed for this quilt..

  • For the 2017 Gatherings, a yearly fee of $50 is charged when the attendee commits to the first Gathering he/she attends.

  • Gathering participants should have experience in sewing and in making quilts.

  • Gathering participants, surely, interact. However, the Gathering is not a class . Each participant is expected to be able to manage his/her own project.

  • The store will not be able to arrange and set-up class machines for use during the Gatherings. Gathering participants should bring to the Gathering what they need for sewing/cutting during the Gathering.

  • Due to the numerous options / aims / of each Gathering participant, space at the Gathering is limited.
Gathering Participants must be pre-signed up. "Drop in" participants, due to classroom class size and machine space limitations will not be accommodated. Sorry!

  • If a Gathering participant decides to "drop out" of the 2017 Gatherings, it would be appreciated if that were known by the store; there may a wait-list and, if a Gathering slot opens - Persons on the wait-list will be notified of such.

2017 Gatherings

Our 2017 Daytime and Evening Gatherings have started. The first project that will be part of the 2017 Gatherings is based upon creating a Two-Color quilt using patterns inspired by the book: "modern neutrals, A fresh look at Neutral Quilt Patterns" By Amy Ellis.

March, 2017

A busy month (hopefully) is past so that we have more designing/"sewing" time as April comes about. Different levels of progress resulting from different-amount-of allocated time for sewing -- and: Winter vacations -- all added up to different stages of progress in February/March. Ok!

It was fun to see how things are evolving and I look forward to working on my "placid curves" as March ends - and: Seeing your pieces/progress.
