Tamarack Jacket - Quilted - Using Strip Piecing
Two-Session Class
Thu, Sep 10, 2026 10:30am - 4:30pm
Thu, Sep 24, 2026 10:30am - 4:30pm
|
|
Description
Break out your fabric strips and join us to create a beautiful quilted jacket just in time for the cool weather to come.
We will focus on strip piecing in class, using either purchased strips (e.g., jelly rolls) or cutting your own strips from yardage of your favorite fabrics. If you would prefer a more streamlined approach, you are welcome to make a jacket using a whole cloth approach that avoids the detailed piecing.
We'll include options for patch pockets, bindings, and closures along the way. Select fabrics that make your heart sing, and you' ll fashion a one-of-a-kind garment that will be a joy to wear.
There are two different versions of the Tamarack pattern available to attempt to accommodate a range of sizes, emphasizing fit for smaller or larger bust sizes. We will be happy to help you choose the version that is best for you.
Intermediate. If you have experience with garment sewing or quilting, your instructor can help you with the area that' s new to you. If you are new to quilting, you will likely find it easier to make your jacket from whole cloth (like the blue sample jacket), rather than piecing a design.
Class Fee: $115.00 Instructor: Carrie N

Double Pocket Folder
Two-Session Class
Fri, Sep 11, 2026 10:30am - 4:30pm
Fri, Oct 2, 2026 10:30am - 4:30pm
|
|
Description
A Double Pocket Folder is a fantastic way to store and carry sewing supplies, writing tools, ipad/ereader, cords, and more. (Makes a great gift as well.) No wonder this is one of designer Minky Kim's bestselling patterns!
In class, you will make the larger Double Pocket Folder. (You will then be able to make the smaller one on your own.) You'll learn to do patchwork for the cover, and work with zippers, mesh and vinyl. Add a binding on the machine, the easy way (then finish by hand or machine.) Put a decorative label to give your folder a personal touch. We'll have fun creating something you can use often!
There will be some homework between classes.

Cielo Top and Dress
Fri, Sep 18, 2026 10:30am - 4:30pm
|
|
Description
Looking for a sweet little number to take you into fall?
Come make a cute boxy top or shift dress with lovely long sleeves (or opt for short sleeves if being cool and collected is more your style).
Join Carrie for a fun day of skill building while adding to your wardrobe a garment design that you' ll want to make again and again. We' ll begin by reviewing the basics of working with patterns, selecting sizes, and preparing the fabric, then we' ll examine a variety of seam finishes (yes, you can use a French seam inside the sleeve!). Next, we will work with basic darts, an elegant bias binding finish for the neckline, and completing the long sleeves as one or two parts (we' ll be focusing on longer sleeves, but feel free to choose a short-sleeved option). If you made the short-sleeved version in the past, come learn to work with the pattern' s gathered long sleeve and other sleeve options to personalize your look.
If you are a beginner, focus on making the top (View A) to master the techniques, then build on those skills while making the dress on your own at home. Those with more experience could make the top or the short-sleeved dress.
