Pride and Joy Paper Piecing

Description

Come and discover how easy it is to make a stunning foundation pieced masterpiece. The patterns by Pride and Joy are sure to leave your friends in awe. Choose from either of the following patterns: The Heart of the Lion, The Matriarch Elephant, Prima Ballerina or Girl with a Pearl Earring.

In our first class we will cover fabric choices, organization and the basics of foundation paper piecing. In the second class we will discuss the assembly process.

The Ins & Outs of Applique Lecture / Demo

Join Sylvain Bergeron, Educator with BERNINA of America in our Raleigh Studio for a lecture and demonstration using the BERNINA presser feet for all types of machine appliqué!

The Ins and Outs of Appliqué
Appliqué made simple, whether it's traditional, reversed or with free motion stitching. With the right presser feet and accessories, appliqué is creative embellishment at its best. Learn and practice a variety of appliqué techniques, starting with the traditional method at the sewing machine, including satin stitch, blanket stitch and reversed appliqué. We will also play with raw edge applique with various stitching methods. We'll even appliqué with a stitch regulator! An overview of appliqué done with embroidery will be presented.

Sylvain Bergeron is an Educator with BERNINA of America. He has been teaching sewing, embroidery and software classes for over 20 years. He is an award - winning quilter, specializing in abstract embroidered art quilts. He is a firm believer in using the right tools to obtain the best results. He is known for his engaging and humorous teaching style. After all, sewing is a rewarding craft and should be enjoyed every stitch of the way.

Come for Sylvain and then take Judy Rains' "Machine Applique Techniques" Class on Sunday, March 29 to practice using your BERNINA feet and perfect your new appliqué skills.

From Curious to Confident: Beginner Improvisational Quilting

Do you like the idea of making quilts improvisationally, but don' t really know where to start? Join Jenn George Burt for an inspiring and fun-filled afternoon that is specifically designed to transform people who are "improv curious" into improv enthusiasts!

We will explore techniques like ruler-free cutting and reimagining traditional blocks, all within a supportive environment where the process is valued over perfection. You will gain the confidence to trust your own design choices as we alternate between focused skill-building exercises and relaxed "free sewing" time. This structure gives you the space to explore new ideas at your own pace. Plus, the class is packed with bonuses such as random prize drawings and a copy of Jenn' s book, Randomize Your Adventure: Prompts for Improv Quilts, for every student to take home!

Under the Sea

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create a machine applique piece? Then come join Siani for some "Under the Sea" machine applique fun!

In this class you will learn how to fuse small and large pieces to a larger background fabric using Heat 'n Bond to create a 42" x 52" quilt featuring adorable sea creatures. We will explore machine based techniques using various stitches to secure the design pieces and create a decorative edge.

Good news! We have expanded the scope of our Stripology Club to now include specialty rulers, such as Studio 180 (Deb Tucker) Rulers, Quick Curve Rulers, log cabin rulers, dresden rulers, Stripology rulers, and so on. The new name of this group is the Ruler Rodeo Club.

Join Amy O'Donnell in the Bernina Studio each month to learn about a different specialty ruler. One ruler will be featured each month; Amy will demo the ruler at the start of the session. Should you decide to purchase that ruler, you will receive a BWOS discount.

Bring any project you are working on that requires any specialty ruler, and spend the day sewing with friends. This program is pay as you go on a monthly basis. No commitment required. Advance registration required - sign up online or in store.
